As with previous editions, this revision reflects the ever-changing nature of prosthodontics in terms of both clinical care and the nomenclature used to codify and communicate our professional language. With our commitment to reflect those changes while maintaining our link to the past, this edition incorporates and refines our prosthodontic heritage and points toward the future of the profession.
The Nomenclature Committee is especially thankful for the input from so many sources. From layout to word context, pronunciation to graphics, this revision reflects input from a wide array of thoughtful individuals. One of the best measures of that commitment has been the diverse and wide-ranging input received from organizations in prosthodontics and allied areas, as well as individuals who take our professional language seriously. We, the members of the Nomenclature Committee of the Academy of Prosthodontics, thank all of you for your helpful suggestions and look forward to more input in the future.
