Retrofitting crowns to an existing removable partial denture clasp: A simple technique☆☆

Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia

Abstract

The fabrication of a new crown to replace an existing abutment tooth for a removable partial denture is one of the most labor-intensive chairside and laboratory procedures. The process can become more complicated when the patient requests a tooth-colored esthetic restoration. Numerous techniques are described in the literature, some for all-metallic restorations and others for metal-ceramic restorations. This article describes a simplified technique that makes use of a polymer ceramic material. (J Prosthet Dent 2002;87:399-402.)
